MAG: LANA DEL REY CEDRIC GERVAIS REMIX
I'm slightly disappointed in myself that I only heard this track for the first time today. Cedric Gervais' remix of Lana Del Rey's superb song and one of my favourites, "Summertime Sadness". It was released in February but it's been high in the charts in recent weeks, number 4 still today. Must be Lana power.

MAG: ZOLA JESUS NEW ALBUM VERSIONS
Zola Jesus has a new record coming out called "Versions", featuring classical re-workings of some of her past material. It includes though a brand new single altogether "Fall Back", a beautiful track beautifully sung, twisted with eery orchestral strings, and whilst it lacks the deep synth beats for which we know her best, she still maintains that chilling effect. The live musical arrangement adds a fresh sensation of power and climax that suits her style like a duck to water. The 10 track album is to be released on August 20.

MAG: ACTIVE CHILD SHE CUT ME
"She Cut Me" is the new single by the brilliantly talented musician that is Active Child. Taken off his upcoming EP, it's another beautifully textured number of captivating sounds. His music feels so well considered and orchestrated, I think you'll agree it's so refreshing to hear. There isn't much else information on the forthcoming arrival of his EP just yet, but this track ought to be a good demonstrative teaser for the follow-up to his gorgeous debut album "You Are All I See".

BLOG: FKA TWIGS EP2
FKA twigs is the London's latest upcomer in the scene of post-dubstep, electronica-infused R&B. "Water Me" was unveiled a week or two ago, accompanied by the big-eyed video that seems to endlessly draw the slow speed and hollow depth of her music. It's a sound not dissimilar to AlunaGeorge, but more lethargic and intimate. Her vocals are the main source of power, as she chillingly utters the words soft and sweet – really captivating and really strange.
She already has a four-track EP out since December last year (under the name of Twigs), and she's set to release "EP2" come September 9, this time under the cool force of Young Turks – who sure as hell know what they're doing – and she's been working with "Yeezus" producer Arca. So it's an exciting time for her, let's see how her promising career unfolds.

DIARY: JFC COUNTRYSIDE SLEEPOVER 08.13
Yesterday we returned from our three-day trip to the English Countryside, taking 17 of our beloved boys from JFC. I don't want to ramble on about our time there, but I would like to just make record of my feelings from the experience.
It's our fourth outing for this trip so sure I'm very much accustomed to how it works and all, but yesterday after we said goodbyes to all the kids as they went home with their parents, I really felt the sudden withdrawal. The strange stillness, absence, silence. It's that same sadness we experience as kids when your best friend has to go home after coming over to play, and not dissimilar in intensity to missing your girlfriend after a break-up, say. I really felt it. But that's not all of course, I was left with great happiness and satisfaction too – we had a fucking great trip. And so much of it was down to the sheer goodness of our boys, I can't stress just how amazing they all are. It's real love man, emotions that any coach, teacher and indeed family live off.
What a pleasure it is to be able to impart such time and memories to these great kids; the best reminder for what a fulfilling job I've gotten myself into. Memories are probably the greatest gift we can give, huh. I'm using that line one day, copyrighted and shotgunned.

MAG: CHVRCHES THE MOTHER WE SHARE OFFICIAL VIDEO
They've been counting down to this one, teasing us over the weekend, and it's now officially here – the video for their new remastered single "The Mother We Share". CHVRCHES are in full swing as they gear up to the release of their debut album, having enjoyed a tremendously successful entry into the music industry, with their material praised to critical acclaim around the globe. One of those people, of course, is me (as you likely already know) as CHVRCHES is fast becoming one of the biggest tags on this Blog. I see them live for the third time this October and I am so thrilled that they are doing what they do, for sure having made my 2013 better off. Oh and isn't it a wicked video?
MAG: BANKS WAITING GAME
I've been following Banks' every move since I first heard her lay down her sultry modern sound with "Before I Ever Met You" and here she is with another new one, unveiled today via Soundcloud.
Produced by the wonderful musician in his own right, SOHN, "WAITING GAME" is breathtakingly beautiful. Stripped back to just her spine-tingling, eerily soft vocals on some mellow chords on a keyboard, it slowly and dramatically layers up with pounding synths that really pulls you in, a feeling of getting sucked into a whirlpool, out of control and tamed by the wild. Or words to that effect... Honestly though, I think this is her most powerful song yet and it's certainly the one that makes me want to find out more about this talented young lady. Super track.
BLOG: DERREN BROWN INFAMOUS LIVE SHOW
I'm a huge fan of Derren Brown and here's why.
His talents and entertainment stream is one that comes from a wonderful art of showmanship. It's traditional in its approach and presentation, producing mind-boggling 'tricks' and delivered with great satire and confidence. And by tricks, I don't mean magic tricks that are impressive only to the point of knowing how it has been achieved; with Derren he seems to delve into real, tangible, understandable illusions and propositions that show signs of a smart man – I wouldn't even mind finding out how he did it, I'd still be amazed. His active inquisition in the realms of science, logic, history, mathematics, storytelling and philosophy stand him in a totally unique bracket of showmanship, so abundant in intuition and creativity.
So when I went to see his new West End live show "Infamous" last Friday, I went in with high expectations and I left blown away. Written with the director Andy Nyman (who is the creator of possibly the most underrated British comedy series "Campus" which was absolutely hilarious) it's a two hour show that flaunts Derren's talents and abilities to maximum capacity, that quite frankly I can't imagine anyone would not enjoy. There are still some nights available in his London leg and I highly recommend you treat yourself to an evening of true magic.

MAG: BIRDY WINGS SINGLE OFFICIAL VIDEO
The third original song after "Without A Word" and that Hunger Games single "Just A Game", young English songstress, Birdy, shares with us this video for her new track "Wings". A beautifully choreographed film accompanies this lead single from her forthcoming second album to which she has been building up to. The album is called "Fire Within" and it follows her superb collection of covers that really put this girl's musical talent in the spotlight. I think she's very special and this new album is something we've been anticipating for a pretty long while now, set for release in September.

DIARY: JFC COOL SLEEPOVER 04.13 MOVIE
This is the trip we made back in snowy April with 17 brave boys from my football club. As always, we shot some footage throughout our activities on the little DV cam, and I finally got round to making the Movie in recent weeks. Soundtracked to alt-J and MS MR (who I hope don't mind) this 6 minute film shows stark contrast to our other trips and subsequent movies shot in the summer sunshine. Cool in every sense of the word.
