BLOG: THE WEEKND PROMOTING TRILOGY

The Weeknd has been taking to the mainstream industry in recent weeks, seeing "Trilogy" hit the charts both in America and the UK. Over here, with Zane Lowe backing him majorly at Radio 1, he's had great airplay to great reception, he held a mystery gig in London on Sunday, just did a live radio session at the coveted Maida Vale studios, his poster campaign has been prominent across the tube network, and even made an appearance on Later... with Jools Holland (embedded below). Good for him. I'm eager to see in what direction his career will now head to, but it's a new and exciting time for The Weeknd, for sure.

MAG: MISTER FREEDOM FALL WINTER 2012

From: Self Edge

From: Mister Freedom

From the F/W '12 collection "Men of the Frontier" is this very cool Military Drover Jacket. Available in either dark indigo denim or heavy wool blanket, the vintage-inspired fitted jackets are made of rare deadstock materials from the fabric down to the buttons and leather detail, to such an extent that each garment is unique. Such a premium item of course doesn't come cheap, going for $870 a piece, but it's unquestionably fucking incredible. Just check out the detailing!

BLOG: DAVID BECKHAM TO LEAVE LA GALAXY

Good man.

MAG: ELLIE GOULDING FIGURE 8 OFFICIAL VIDEO

Coming soon as the second single from "Halcyon" this is possibly my favourite track off the album. The video for "Figure 8" was unveiled just minutes ago, a beautiful burst of passion and emotion, fitting to such a good song. It's perhaps the most dubstep-heavy number in an experimental album of sorts, but one that I feel complements her vocals and sound style perfectly. Watch the video and get the album if you haven't already!

BLOG: DUMB WAYS TO DIE BY METRO

Now I first thought this was just a fun bit of animation with cutely done graphics and an amusing sense of humour. It most certainly is those things but it's actually a global Metro campaign to encourage smart thinking around trains, ie. don't be silly and die.

"Dumb Ways To Die" is the ultimate modern-day campaign, providing this wonderful viral video with enjoyable GIFs available on Tumblr, backed by an on point track downloadable through iTunes or Soundcloud, all supported by an impressively detailed and attractively simple homepage too. I think it's a wicked idea, and with such top quality execution, it's set to guarantee a rise in awareness and common sense. Love it.

BLOG: VICTATE WINTER '12 MAINLINE PRODUCTS

The Victate Winter '12 Mainline collection is here. Entitled "Bare" as a reflection on our efforts to strip down the garments only to their essential qualities and details, the range is considerably monochrome in its aesthetics for a cool winter season.

Perhaps our highlight item is the newly developed fitted sweater with raglan sleeves, rounded open hem and extra-long cuffs. They've been perfected to the shape we wanted, the shape in jumper that we believe should be how every jumper fits. And to show it off, it's printed with our staple Heritage graphic and this season's lead illustration "Discovery", which explores the depth in consideration that goes into the work at Victate.

Anyway, we're super proud of the release and with Private Stock arriving in early December, now is the perfect time for you appreciate the Mainline gear. Please. Find them all available for purchase on our website, and check out the lookbook shots too!

DIARY: LANA DEL REY PARADISE SPECIAL EDITION

Last week saw the release of Lana Del Rey's re-release/double album/new EP "Born To Die: The Paradise Edition". I had ordered myself the Special Edition boxset as soon as this was announced a couple of months ago, so you can imagine my excitement upon receiving it. There's so much inside! Three CDs, one DVD, one 9" vinyl, four photo cards and a fat ass box. Plus I got tickets for her London date next year at Hammersmith Apollo, so I'm pretty fucking ecstatic right now.

BLOG: VICTATE WINTER '12 MAINLINE LOOKBOOK

After months of hard work, we're delighted to present the new Mainline collection for Winter '12. The drop includes some staple must-have items, as we introduce our newly developed crewneck sweaters, which I'm so happy with. The lookbook was shot with the guys from London-based break crew "Natural Selectionz", as they rocked our gear doing their thing. A real pleasure it was to work with them.

I'll post up some more detailed looks at the range over the next few days, but in the meantime have a look at the photo gallery and check out the entire collection on our website, where it's all live and available for order right now!

MAG: TRICKER'S FOR SOPHNET. WINGTIP BOOT

From: Inventory Magazine

From: End Clothing

Another Tricker's collaboration, this time comes from Japanese design powerhouse SOPHNET. Made with pebbled and polished leather, these wingtips make a mean ass pair of boots. They're crafted in Northampton and are available in two colourways, brown or black.

BLOG: JAPAN NATIONAL STADIUM BY ZAHA HADID

From: Designboom

Visually, these images are just spectacular. With a retractable clear roof and an overall silhouette of beautifully dynamic curvature, this competition entry by Zaha Hadid Architect has won the right to build it as Japan's National Stadium, housed in the capital city that is Tokyo. It has a capacity of 80,000 and will be the nation's most iconic venue for sport, music and culture. There are question marks over its financial viability, what with Japan being in huge debt and Zaha Hadid enduring a trend of over-budget projects, but it will be constructed and it will be finished in 2018. Exciting.

DIARY: BIRTHDAY GIFT

From: OEN Shop

One of my closest of friends turns 21 this weekend and I ordered this beautiful product for him, courtesy of the OEN shop from Cambridgeshire, England. He probably won't be reading this so we should be ok (although if you are, just act surprised or something when I come round later this week).

Crafted by Tokyo-based creative Yumiko Iihoshi is the Utage Tool in beige. With all pieces individually handmade, it has wonderful properties and features unique to each item, while the box space is free to use however one likes and the wooden cover (also handcrafted of course) should age over time and use. I really love this piece, and indeed the rest of the ceramic collection by Yumiko Iihoshi Porcelain. I have a feeling ceramics are going to be my next thing...

BLOG: ±0 WIRE WARE BY NAOTO FUKASAWA

From: OEN

Designed by the superman of Japanese design Naoto Fukasawa are these wired objects stripped to the very core of their functions. The end result is one of absolute beauty, simplicity and harmony. ±0 have pinned down the essence of lifestyle to a natural and bare form, which makes their designs so convincing or even obvious. This wire ware collection embodies that completely, presented with the most basic (whilst proper) construction in matte black.
